Happy New Year to all! The New Year brings a lot of new things, especially new bugs that get us sick! If you are like me, you either have a cold, or are around loved ones who are affected by it. The holidays are over, but the stress that comes with it also leaves us behind feeling overwhelmed and tired. Believe it or not, your oral health plays a big role in preventing colds and helping you heal quicker.
In order to ensure a healthy new year, here are some tips to help you get through the winter blues.
-Floss at least once a day
-Brush twice a day and don’t forget your tongue
-Replace any toothbrushes and/or toothbrush heads after your cold
-Rinse your mouth with mouthwash, it can help kill bacteria which causes sore throats
-If sore throat persists, rinse with Salt water as well (1/2 tspn salt, 8oz warm water)
-Take your Vitamin C daily as a preventative measure and to help build your immune system
-Wash your hands often
-Try to limit exposure with people who are infected with the cold
-Eat a healthy balanced diet
-Drink plenty of fluids
-Get some rest
May your new year be healthy and happy and we are looking forward to seeing you this year in our office! Don’t forget to smile!
